Environmental Tips
 
  • Millions of cell phones are discarded each year, and the toxic waste that leaks out of them accumulates in plants, soil, and water. Don't let your old phone become part of the problem: Donate it to a program that refurbishes cell phones for use by victims of domestic violence.  Mail your cell phone to help fight domestic violence to:

  • Cut tops and bottoms off of milk jugs and tap into soil
    about an inch around plants-concentrate watering into the “collar.”        
  • Start seeds in egg cartons or the bottom of a two liter bottle.
  • Save dryer lint in mesh vegetable bags and hang outside
    for birds to pick from for their nests.
  • Cut up plastic bottles to use as plant markers.
  • Save panty hose to tie up tomatoes.
  • When shopping, take reusable bags to bring your purchases home.
  • Buy items in recyclable and/or minimal packaging.
  • Buy durable rather than disposable items.
  • Donate unwanted items to thrift stores rather than
    throwing them away.
  • Reuse milk jugs, margarine tubs and other lidded containers.
  • Borrow or rent items that you won't use often.
