A non-profit organization based at the Ohio State University Center for Automotive Research, this group works to decrease dependence on imported petroleum and increase the use of cleaner, American fuels in order to increase health and reduce pollution. Possible volunteer opportunities include organizing events, working on newsletters or the website, and helping with mailings.

With goals of promoting the appreciation, understanding and conservation of birds, other wildlife and their habitats, this group organizes field trips and regular nature programs, and offers classroom-field experiences. Though membership is encouraged, all are welcome to participate in activities. Volunteer opportunities include helping with the Columbus Audubon Nature Center and serving on the education or conservation committees.

This non-profit organization works to attain sustainable living in Columbus by providing forums and raising awareness about environmental issues. Sponsors Green Drinks, a monthly event that raises environmental awareness in a social setting. Also works with other local environmental groups to coordinate Earth Day. Friends of Alum Creek and Tributaries

FACT is a non-profit organization that works to preserve and protect Alum Creek by providing educational and volunteer opportunities. Members of FLOW, a non-profit organization, work to educate people about and protect the Lower Olentangy River Watershed. Volunteer opportunities include educating children and the public, river cleanups, work on publications and fundraising. Upcoming events include a Vernal Pool Study (March 28) and native tree planting in Como park (April 5).
